A new generation of Tip Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (TERS) microscope is being developed in the Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films (LPICM) at École Polytechnique (Institut Polytechnique de Paris), located in the Paris-Saclay Campus, in Palaiseau (south Paris). The project, sponsored by a prestigious European Research Council Starting Grant (ERC-StG), spans several disciplines such as physics, chemistry, photonics, engineering, electrochemistry, biophysics, materials science and nanotechnology, highlighting its broad applicability.

The candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in chemistry, physics or engineering. Due to the nature of the project, skills in experimental sciences, handling sensitive instrumentation and/or Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) are essential. The candidate will play a key role in the use of this unique nanospectroscopy imaging instrument in different current projects and its further development. We value extremely high a “can-do attitude” and initiative, independent thinking and work as a team.

Knowledge in Near-Field Optics, Raman Spectroscopy and/or (Bio)Photonics will be an asset in the assessment of the candidate. Excellent communication skills in fluent English are necessary as the project runs in an international environment of researchers and research engineers.

We are currently offering fully-funded postdoctoral positions (Research Fellow) to highly motivated candidates to work on this ambitious ERC project in a dynamic young team (starting September 2021)
