he Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, Halle, Germany, Department of Nanophotonics, Integration, and Neural Technology led by Director Prof. Joyce Poon, is recruiting

Postdoctoral Fellows in

Integrated Photonics

for projects on display engines, brain implants, and neural imaging. Up to 3 positions are available. The research mission of the department is to invent devices and microsystems for future computing. English is the working language at the Institute.

Your Tasks

Collaborate with the team to complete projects in integrated photonics and neural technologies
Design, layout, and measure integrated photonic devices and circuits
Integrate the photonic chips into microsystems that include, for example, electronics, physical optical components, and microfluidics
Train and work closely with other postdoctoral fellows, students, and staff
Present research results in international scientific journals and conferences
Interact with external partners if necessary
Your Profile

You have earned or will soon earn a Ph.D. Degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related discipline
You are motivated by grand challenges
You are experienced in the simulation, design, and layout of integrated photonic devices and circuits
You are highly proficient with CAD and simulation tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL
You are experienced in the characterization of integrated photonic devices and circuits
Experience in design-fab-test cycles using silicon photonic foundries is highly desirable
You have a demonstrated track-record of scientific productivity
You excel at solving problems with creativity and resourcefulness
You are a fast learner and excited to learn about other disciplines
You are an effective team player who excels in a fast-paced, highly dynamic, interdisciplinary and international environment
You have excellent written and oral communication skills in English
